Pink Himalayan salt is superior to table salt.

You may have heard of this salt or use it on a daily basis and not know it! Pink Himalayan salt is popular in body scrubs, bath soaks, salt lamps, and my personal favourite, food.

Himalayan salt is said to be one of the most beneficial and cleanest salts on our planet. Filled with nutritional and therapeutic properties, it is a healthier option to processed table salt. The right salt, in the right amount, is good for your health. Himalayan salt contains over 84 minerals and trace elements; calcium, magnesium, potassium, iron and copper. Not only does it make your food taste better but it may make you feel better too.

Pink Himalayan salt comes from the Punjab region of Pakistan (roughly 200 miles from the Himalayas) and was traditionally used by the people of the Himalayas to preserve meat and fish. This region holds one of the richest salt fields in the world and is very old, dating back to earth’s creation. The Himalayan salt comes from salt mines deep below the Himalayan Mountains and is said to be 99 percent pure. The colour of the salt varies on the mineral content. The crystal salt can be pink, white or red in colour. Although, pink Himalayan salt is chemically sodium chloride, which is defined as a mineral of importance to health.

Why Better Than Table Salt?

Pink Himalayan salt is one of the purest, balanced salts you can find and is typically mined by hand. Table salt is heavily processed (eliminating mineral content) and goes through major unnatural interferences. Table salt undergoes a bleaching process and contains highly toxic ingredients such as aluminum derivatives. What you’re left with is one mineral, sodium, added iodine and hazardous anti-clumping agents.
